Network expansion in Albania
Albania - AMC (Albanian Mobile Communications) has selected Nokia to expand Albania's GSM infrastructure and in so doing becomes Nokia's 100th GSM network operator customer.
Equipment and support provided will include mobile switching centres and Nokia high-capacity base stations, a range of professional services, as well as the Nokia Network Management System. Deliveries and implementation are already underway.
"The integration of Nokia's solutions into our network will enable us to continue providing the same high-quality coverage across the entire country," Sfad Evangelos Martigopoulos, managing director, Cosmote. "We are pleased to be working closely with Nokia to ensure a fast roll-out, which ultimately will mean improved service for our rapidly growing subscriber base." (Cosmote acquired 85% of AMC in early 2000.)
